Final Words from the Cross by Adam Hamilton Lenten Study:
5 Wednesday evenings, 6-7:30 in the small fellowship hall, beginning Feb. 21. In life and in death, Jesus’ words were powerful and meaningful. Despite the serious effort and increased pain required for Jesus to speak as he hung on the cross, Jesus spoke seven “final words”—statements that have much to teach us about Jesus, his Father, and ourselves. Join us during the season of Lent for a journey through Jesus’ final hours on the cross. $10 suggested donation to participate. Sing up in the Narthex or by calling the church office.

Springtime Brunswick Stew
We are planning our first Brunswick Stew for this year for March 23rd with pick up at the church on March 24th. This is again a joint effort with our Scout Troop 178. Be sure to reserve your stew as some folks were turned away when we sold out early. You can reserve your stew by calling the church office at 526-1350 or by signing up in the church narthex or with any member of the Finance Committee.
Robin Edwards, Pastor Anita Mays, Amanda Denny
Dabney or Stuart Short, Janice or Dennis Ganoe
Beth Honea, Mark Oakes, or Lisa Baker
The sign-up sheet for workers to help prepare, cook and stir the stew can also be found in the narthex.
All are welcome and appreciated.
The Metal Drive Continues
Our Metal Drive in 2017 was an overwhelming success and we will be continuing it in 2018. We specifically will be collecting and taking metal to the recycle site from 8-10amon April 28th. If you have large items, appliances and such, that need to be picked up, please call the church office at 526-1350 or contact Beth Honea. These can be arranged on other dates. Small items, cans, etc. can be left at the church in the interim in the indoor (large social hall) or outdoor (behind the dumpster). Cans need to be washed and labels removed and we appreciate your sorting food (tin) vs. drink (aluminum) cans. Everyone’s help is encouraged as these efforts are good for the church and good for the environment.
Every Third Sunday of the month Ivey has a Mission Lunch following the second service. Our menu features a different family favorite each month. Lunch is by donation and all proceeds will go to missional apportionments. This program has been a successful opportunity of fellowship and fund-raising. Please join us for lunch after second service each third Sunday.
